Bat Repellent

I must apologize, but there is really no such thing as an effective bat repellent. Unfortunately, there's no cheap and easy fix to a bat problem in a house or bats in the attic. You can't just find some powder or spray bomb or something that will make the bats decide to leave. Once they find a building to roost in, they are extremely stubborn. They're also protected by law, and your attempt to use a bat repellant is probably illegal. But I assure you, it won't work. Go ahead and try as many as you want. And those high-pitched ultrasonic sound machines are a joke as well. The only way to get rid of bats is to physically exclude them, such as is seen in the photo to the left. The bats fly out of your house every evening. Heck, darkness is the real bat repellent, they leave the attic once it gets dark! The trick is to install one-way exclusion devices that they can fly out of, but not back into. Then seal up the entry holes! This job is usually a lot easier said than done, and it's best to hire a professional to do it. Our company services central FL.

Bat Repellents - So, you have found a bat in your home. We would like to bet good money on the true fact that there is not going to be just one of them – they are usually accompanied by a whole colony. You may just not have seen the rest of them yet. That’s the biggest problem you will find with bats; there is never going to just be one of the little critters.

Bat removal companies can be expensive, especially when you look at how cheap it can be just to use repellents. These things are generally much cheaper, and can be used safely around the home. Surely it just makes sense to use these methods instead?

The good news is that these repellents are fairly cheap. The bad news is that you are going to be wasting money when you choose to use them. These things very rarely work, and even if they do, it won’t be for long.

Take MOTHBALLS for example. These are used to remove many different pests from your home, and bats are just one perfect example. Think about it logically however – bats are mammals. We are mammals. Would we move out of our homes just because someone threw a few mothballs around? No, of course not, and this works in much the same way with these flying creatures. Stop buying them – you are just wasting your hard earned cash.

BRIGHT LIGHTS are another repellent method that many people use to discourage bats from living in their homes. It makes sense when you think about it – bats only come out at night, so any reference to daylight will just stop them from coming around. There is one massive problem with this, however. Bats love insects, and what attracts insects – bright lights. If you are going to be attracting their favorite foods, you are going to be attracting the bats, therefore shooting yourself in the foot.

LOUD NOISES work in much the same way as the bright lights do. Bats don’t like to be disturbed, and therefore music playing loudly or lots of disturbances caused by humans or other animals should technically remove the bats from the premises. The thing is that bats have evolved and are actually fairly used to living with humans, especially if you have found them living within your home anyway. Some people have found that this is an effective bat repellent method, but after a while, the loud noises seem to stop working, just as the bat evolves to the surroundings. With things such as radios, you will just be wasting your electricity. Bat can also walk on the ground and crawl into dark areas and away from any sounds or lights they might not like.

NAPHTHALENE CRYSTALS – this is something that is found in moth balls, so as you can imagine, if the moth balls haven’t worked, then these crystals aren’t going to either. Also, there have been links to these being actually rather damaging to the health of humans and various other pets, so unless you want to poison your household, using these crystals is probably not the best idea. Another reason why these are going to be a bad idea is that we humans tend to hate the smell just as much as the bats do, so there is a good chance that you are going to want to move out before the invaders want to.

There are so many bat repellents on the market that it can be very easy to get carried away by the idea of them, but when you actually sit down and think about things logically, you will understand that they don’t make a lot of sense. Just take a look at the ones mentioned above, and the reasons given for them not working – surely you wouldn’t want to waste your money on such things, when you could just pay someone a lump sum to get rid of them and be done with it? If these repellents actually worked, the need for wildlife control organizations wouldn’t be as high and no one would have a bat problem. Or a problem with any other animal for that matter!
